Hi, I have been a long admirer of the work shown on these forums, and finally feel I have something approaching a portait that is kind of appropriate to show here (half of it anyway). I enjoy movies and so my creative urges tend to sway toward movie characters. Although I want to show my work here, I feel it is not as 'artistic' as many of the excellent pieces displayed in these threads.
So, that said, I'd like to show you a 1/3 scale WIP of Arnold as he appears toward the end of Terminator 2. I have been wrestling with this likness for a good few weeks and have had at least 4 restarts. I have finally put together enough of a likness that I'm happy with (though I hope to refine it more as I go). Please feel free to offer any thoughts on it.

hi alan,,, interesting work,, i must admit, i am not so friend of these terminator , (personally dislike the skull side, i am sorry, i am a lover of beautiful peaceful) but the likeness you got i admire,,, and, thats why i am posting : absolutely great is for me how you achieved with a bust so much movement, sense of attitude and power, its all there through stretched muscles at the neck, brow, tilt of head,,, wow really great. to me, that is your sculpture, the pose, and expression... great work _________________ my homepage and my blog showing process of projects |

| Nice you have really captured the " feel" of Arnold's character from the movie. Sometimes this can be just as important as having an exact likeness of a subject. |

Hi Doris, thank you for looking and commenting on the work so far. I must admit that when I posted these pictures, I felt like a bit of an imposter, and still do really, in showing such a blatently commercial piece among the works of art I see here. I never expected anyone to talk about its power or attitude or movement. You've made me think about it a little differently. Tim, I'm very pleased you think I have caught the 'feel' of the character and thanks for saying so. I will continue to work on it and will post more pictures of the progress.Thank you.

I enjoyed viewing your little Arnold here too Alan. I like the musculature and the curve/twist of the neck - something easily overlooked in a typical portrait. it's also a good exercise to expose part of the skull to understand the form layers. Even though this isn't a real skull, it's skull-like enough to do the trick. _________________ Heidi Maiers

Jeanette, thanks for looking... I do like precision and detail and strive to make it as perfect as I can. Heidi, thanks for the encouraging observations - I understand that this type of work is not necessarily your cup of tea.

Bit of an update. I'm still experimenting with the hair and the mouth needs some refining. Getting closer though.

Got a little more done. Chest and jacket just roughed out, jaw pistons added, brought the chin forward a bit, lowered the endo eye, still not happy with the lower lip, and still experimenting with hair and skin texture.
